THE COMPETITION
Solar Race Región de Murcia is an efficiency and endurance competition for experimental vehicles that are included in one of the following categories according to the energy source they use:
- Solar photovoltaic
- Bioethanol
- Biodiesel
- Hydrogen
- Electrical plug-in
The experimental vehicles must be designed by groups of students from education centres: universities and secondary schools.
In order to classify, each vehicle will be required to complete at least three series of four laps of the circuit. The objective is to cover this distance using the least amount of energy and while maintaining an everage minimum speed of 25 km/h.
DATES AND VENUE
Last edition of the Solar Race Región de Murcia was held from 13 to 15 October 2011, at the Cartagena Speed Circuit.
ABOUT THE ORGANISERS
Solar Race Región de Murcia is being organised by the Agencia de Gestión de Energía de la Región de Murcia (ARGEM), an organisation which is attached to the Department of Universities, Enterprise and Research in the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
The main task of ARGEM is help the regional development in a sustainable way, respecting the enviroment, promoting the rational use of the energy and the introduction of the renewable energies.
Then, ARGEM organizes this competition in order to offer a meeting-point for the exhibition and promotion of vehicles powered with alternative enegies.
